Favour Ayogu, a 16-year-old victim, was saved by the Anambra State Police Command from a suspected kidnapping attempt at Ekene Junction, which is located along Oguta Road in Onitsha, the state's commercial center.

A kidnapping syndicate allegedly kidnaped the victim in Igboeze South Local Government Area, Enugu State, and abandoned her as the abductors approached a security checkpoint in Onitsha after security personnel stopped them.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, stated in a statement on Monday that the victim's rescue came after enhanced strategic joint security operations carried out on Sunday nite.

Ikenga claimed that following a vigorous pursuit by security personnel who had previously detected their whereabouts, the kidnappers abandoned their victim and ran away.

He claims that in an effort to reunite the victim with his family in Enugu State, the command has stepped up surveillance to capture the alleged kidnappers.
