Kogi LG chooses December 6 for primary election

In advance of the state's local council elections in 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi has scheduled its primary election for December 6.

The revelation was made by APC state chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Bello on Wednesday at a press conference in Lokoja.  Bello promised candidates and party supporters a free, fair, and transparent election when he revealed the program of events for the upcoming LG polls.

According to him, women and people with disabilities (PWDs) will only have to pay N500,000 for the expression of interest form and N2 million for the nomination form.

Bello clarified that while December 2 and December 3 had been reserved for the submission of forms, the forms will be available for purchase at the State Party Secretariat from November 27 to December 1.

He also revealed that the screening and publishing of the list of eligible candidates would take place on December 4, with appeals and the release of the final list of candidates following the settlement of disagreements scheduled for December 5.

In accordance with the schedule issued by the Kogi Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), the chairman reiterated the party's commitment to maintaining internal democracy and ensuring fair competition for all candidates.

He urged all candidates to follow their goals without fear or intimidation, stating that the APC is still a party founded on inclusivity and unity.

“We appreciate the unwavering loyalty and support of Kogi citizens and APC members to the administration of Gov. Ahmed Ododo.

“Your commitment and dedication are the foundation of our party’s achievements so far, ” he said.
