Lagos arrest three for illegal refuse dumping

On Tuesday, at least three people were apprehended for disposing of rubbish on the median of Ikotun–Igando Road.

In a statement shared on his X Twitter, state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab confirmed the arrests.

The accused were named as 24-year-old Isaac Monday, 35-year-old Adedigba Kazeem, and 35-year-old Muosolu Ogochukwu.

He clarified that the arrests came after the trash Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team of the Lagos Waste Management Authority conducted early-morning operations on Monday in an effort to address trash blackspots along the corridor.

“As a result of these operations, three individuals were apprehended for disposing of refuse illegally at the road median along Ikotun Igando Road.

“The apprehended individuals have been transferred to the LAWMA legal team at the Oshodi Mobile Court for further legal proceedings,” the commissioner stated.

Wahab warned locals not to dispose of rubbish carelessly while reiterating the state government's commitment to upholding environmental regulations and keeping Lagos clean.
