Lagos cyclist dies in fatal truck accident
Today, at the Alausa Bus Stop, close to "Radio," on Kudirat Abiola Way, along Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikeja, a cyclist tragically lost his life after colliding with a moving truck.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the bicycle was trying to make his way to "Radio" when he collided with a vehicle that was carrying a lot of cargo (registration number BDG 610 YA).
The biker died instantly as a result of the incident after losing control and striking his head hard on the concrete.
The biker looked to have lost focus due to a phone call using an earphone at the moment of the collision, according to witnesses.
Alausa Police Division officers responded quickly, while LASTMA personnel quickly blocked off the area to maintain traffic movement and prevent additional disturbances.
After being turned over to the police, the deceased's body was taken to the General Hospital mortuary in Ikeja.
