Lagos High court jails 15 foreigners for cybercrime
On Friday, the Federal High Court in Lagos found two more foreigners guilty of cyberterrorism and online fraud and sentenced them to one year in prison each.
Eleven Filipinos, two Chinese, one Malaysian, and one Indonesian were among the fifteen foreigners condemned by Justice Yellin Bogoro and Justice Alexander Owoeye in separate proceedings after they all entered guilty pleas.
The trial judges also directed the Nigeria Immigration Service's Comptroller-General (NIS) to make sure that, within seven days of serving their sentences, the convicted individuals are returned to their home countries.
Additionally, the Federal Government of Nigeria was ordered to surrender the devices that were found on the defendants.
This most recent decision brings the total number of foreigners found guilty and given sentences to 33.
