The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old kid, Solomon Ibiwoye, after he was caught in possession of a handgun in the Ebute-Ero region of the state.  

In an X post on Sunday, police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin revealed this and praised the watchful citizens whose tip resulted in the arrest.

“Kudos to observant Lagosians who noticed 16-year-old Solomon Ibiwoye with a firearm and discreetly alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division,” Hundeyin wrote.

He continued by saying that an unexpended cartridge and a locally made firearm were found during a follow-up search of the teen's home.

“One more firearm off the streets,” he said, assuring all that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Additionally, the police spokeswoman reaffirmed how crucial public awareness is to preventing crime.

“See something, say something!” he stated.
