Lagos Police arrest 23 teenagers over disturbance in Mushin

The Lagos Police Command in Mushin has detained 23 people in connection with alleged public disturbances during raids of the Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye marketplaces, including harassment, assaults, and shoplifting.

Residents and traders were allegedly being terrorised by the actions of young males between the ages of 12 and 16, according to allegations.

The youths were accused of roaming around, robbing and assaulting victims during the day.

The situation has been brought under control, according to a statement released by Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin on behalf of Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.

“The Lagos State Police Command appreciates the feedback and concerns raised by members of the Mushin community regarding recent incidents of daylight assaults, harassment and stealing from shops and from innocent members of the public on the streets around Mushin by teenage miscreants and hoodlums ranging from 14 to 16 years.

“These reports have informed a thorough review of our operational tactics and strategies. In response, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has promptly deployed more police tactical squads, Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel and other conventional police teams specifically to Mushin and the adjoining areas to checkmate the activities of these miscreants, arrest them and bring them to justice.

“Total normalcy has been completely restored to Mushin and all other parts of Lagos State. Lagosians are encouraged to go about their lawful businesses without fear or apprehension,” said Hundeyin.
