During an early morning security operation throughout Victoria Island, Lekki-Ajah, and portions of the Coastal Road, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, or LNSA, apprehended at least 130 suspected thugs.

Following allegations of illegal activity reportedly targeting drivers, especially during times of traffic congestion, the operation began on Friday at around two in the morning.

This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, General Manager of LNSA, who oversaw the operation.

According to Oyekan, the suspects underwent screening before being shown to representatives of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, which is affiliated with the LNSA, for identification and profiling.

He clarified that the purpose of the exercise was to identify the suspects and identify people who might have engaged in criminal activity, adding that anyone found guilty would face legal action.

He claimed that the operation showed the agency's determination to protect people and property while guaranteeing that residents and drivers could move through the impacted areas fearlessly.

According to Oyekan, the operation was a component of LNSA's broader community-policing strategy, which entails working with locals and other security organisations to identify and address new security risks.

He clarified that the plan was intended to improve intelligence collection and guarantee that community security issues were immediately resolved.
