During an operation on Lagos Island, the Lagos State Environmental Task Force detained 44 people who were allegedly involved in criminal activity.  

Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, said in a statement issued on Thursday that the operation was a component of the city's continuous efforts to purge criminal elements.  

Falomo Bridge, Oyin Jolayemi, the Eko Hotel Roundabout, Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru Beach, and the 1004 area were among the important sites that were targeted by the well-planned raid.  

Wahab claims that the suspects are presently being held and will face legal prosecution.
