To start the week on a negative note, the naira lost value in relation to the dollar on Monday in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets.  

The Naira fell to N1,535.93 versus the dollar on Monday, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria's official exchange rate statistics, from N1,533.56 on Friday of last week.  

This indicates that, in comparison to the N1,533.56 that was traded at the end of business last week, the Naira lost N2.37 against the dollar.  

In a similar vein, the Naira fell N5 to N1570 per dollar on Monday from N1,565 on Friday on the black market.  

As of August 8, 2025, the nation's overseas reserves had increased to $40.29 billion, according to figures from the apex bank.
