National grid collapses again
Nigeria experienced another nationwide power failure Wednesday, causing setbacks for homes and businesses. Between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., the whole amount of power generated decreased to 1.5 megawatts, or 2,917.83 MW.
Nigeria National Grid, an X handle that offers information on electric power distribution, declared that "System restoration is in progress" shortly after the collapse.
With the exception of Ibadan DisCo, all power distribution companies nationwide have seen their disco loads drop to 0 megawatts, according to a different tweet from the X account.
“Disco load” is the amount of power (in megawatts, MW) allocated from the national grid to each Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo).
The quantity of power (measured in megawatts, MW) allotted to each Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) from the national grid is known as the "disco load."
Around 11.23 a.m., the national grid went down, according to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, or AEDC. The business announced this on its verified Abuja Twitter account.
It said:” Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at about 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday.”
The corporation claims that the outage had an impact on the delivery of electricity in all of its franchise areas.
“Be rest assured we are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure power is restored once the grid is stabilised.
