NDLEA arrests Brazilian woman with heroin, explosives at Abuja Airport

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, a Brazilian national carrying heroin valued at over ?3 billion was apprehended, marking a significant advancement in the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency's (NDLEA) nationwide anti-drug operations.

The suspect, a 30-year-old Brazilian private security guard named Ms. Ingrid Rosa Benevides, was captured last Friday, January, just after landing in Nigeria on Qatar Airways aircraft QR1431. Based on reliable information, NDLEA agents searched her checked-in bags thoroughly.

Officers found 21 factory-sealed packages of Brazilian coffee hidden in two luggage during the search. Subsequent analysis showed that the coffee bags contained 30.09 kilograms of white heroin, which subsequently tested positive, making it the biggest heroin seizure ever documented at the airport in Abuja.

The NDLEA calculated the illicit drug's street worth to be more than ?3 billion. The suspect stated in her preliminary statement that she went to Nigeria pretending to be on vacation.

Adediran Adedoyin and Afatakpa Ochuko, two departing passengers on a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul, Turkey, were stopped by NDLEA agents last Tuesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

3,990 pills of tramaking (225 mg) and tapentadol (250 mg) were found concealed inside food items during a search of their luggage.
