NDLEA confiscates N2.6bn drugs in Jigawa, apprehends three suspects

In Jigawa State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has confiscated controlled substances valued at more than N2.6 billion.

When Musa Maina, the state's NDLEA commander, paraded the suspects and the exhibits at the command's headquarters in Dutse, the state capital, on Monday, he made this statement.

Maina claims that following a three-day operation that included the states of Jigawa and Kano, the drugs were located and seized in Gumel.

“Three suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure, and two vehicles were impounded,” he said.

According to Maina, the suspects—Jamilu Muhammad, Abba Ibrahim, and Shuaibu Umar—were taken into custody while delivering the drugs to several locations in Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, and the Niger Republic.

He added that “the vehicles seized included a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater Hummer bus, both loaded with drugs.”

The commander added that among the medicines found were 195.3 kg of Pregabalin capsules and 118.6 kg of Tramadol tablets.

“The operation was planned for a long time and was successful due to intelligence gathering,” he noted.
