NDLEA nabs bandits' drug supplier in Niger

Three weeks after eluding capture at his residence in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, Shiroro local government area of Niger state, 33-year-old Mohammed Sani (also known as Gamboli), a well-known supplier of illegal drugs to local bandits, was apprehended at his hideout by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents.  

This was revealed in a statement on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja.  

According to Babafemi, on November 20, 2025, NDLEA agents invaded Gamboli's home in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, after receiving reliable information concerning his illegal drug activities. During the raid, they found 471.8 kg of skunk, a type of cannabis.

According to Babafemi, the chase for him finally paid off on Thursday, December 11, when NDLEA officials acting on processed intelligence located and detained him at one of his drug joints in Anguwan Fadama, Kuta, despite the fact that he eluded capture during the operation and has since been in hiding.  

According to intelligence data, Gamboli is a significant supplier of illegal substances to bandits in the Shiroro local government area, according to Babafemi.  He continued by saying that on Thursday, December 11, NDLEA officers in Abia raided a covert codeine syrup plant located in Amapu Igbengwo village, Umuakpara, in the state's Osisioma local government area.  

He stated that 9,015 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 1,152.2 kg were found by the workers during the operation.

The statement reads, “In Enugu state, operatives on Thursday, 11th December arrested Ossai Emeka, 45, along Onitsha – Enugu Ezike road with 7.2kg skunk, while Enoje Agada, 40, was nabbed along Enugu-Ezike -Ette road with 94.6kg of the same psychoactive substance.

“A raid carried out by NDLEA operatives at a notorious drug joint known as “Beere the California” at Ido in Oyo state on Thursday, 11th December, led to the seizure of 3.4kg skunk, 1.6kg Colorado, a synthetic cannabis and 400grams of methamphetamine.

“The owner of the drug joint, identified as ‘Idowu the killer, ‘ is currently at large, while a suspect, Ajibade Faruk, was nabbed at the joint. Another operation at Idi Oro, Elekuro, Ibadan on Friday 12th December, led to the arrest of Olusanya Abosede, 35, and the seizure of 238.4kg skunk.”
