Nigeria troops rescue 23 abducted passengers in Kogi

According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, armed individuals stopped the route and attacked travelers on Monday at around 3:30 in the morning.

According to reports, the attackers kidnapped multiple passengers before 12 Brigade soldiers in Kabba responded to a distress call.

The abductors had already left by the time the troops showed up. But at the scene, soldiers discovered five wounded victims and two dead bodies. A HOWO truck and two Toyota commercial buses that had been left by the side of the road were also found.

A source said: “The troops immediately launched a pursuit operation leading to the rescue of 23 abducted passengers.”

While the injured were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Kabba for treatment, the rescued victims were transported to safety.

According to military officials, efforts are underway to locate the escaping assailants and save any survivors.

Recent reports of kidnapping and banditry in the Ayegunle–Bunu corridor have prompted a more robust military response.
