Nigerian gospel singer Toun Soetan dies at 73
Toun Soetan, a legend in gospel music, passed away at the age of 73. Gospel comedian Woli Agba and artist Peter Olaniyi verified her death by posting their condolences on social media.
"The message remained the same," said Woli Agba, describing Toun Soetan as a renowned person who lived a life exalting Jesus. The way of living continued to be one that exalts Jesus. Today was the day you entered the glory of meeting the Lord Jesus.
“Our dear Legendary Mummy Toun Soetan… Mummy, sing with the Angels. Mummy, wow, goodnight. May God be with our beloved daddy and the family.”
Peter Olaniyi also paid tribute, stating, “We just lost another legend this morning, Mummy Toun Soetan. May the Lord be with the family and Daddy Titus Soetan.”
Gospel musicians and fans have been paying tribute to Toun Soetan, remembering him as a mentor and inspiration in the music ministry.
The late evangelist Toun Soetan was well-known for songs like "Ke Pe Jesu" and "Cast Your Burdens," which are still staples in Christian worship sessions, in addition to her well-known hymn "Darling Jesus."
