At the 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup in Shanghai, China, Team Nigeria took home the Gold Award in the Middle School Group Category.

The Nigeria Spelling Bee made the announcement on its official Facebook page on Sunday.

"Team Nigeria has won the Gold Award in the Middle School Group Category at the Spelling Bee World Cup in Shanghai, China," the organization stated.

Ar-Raheem International College in Ilorin confirmed the accomplishment on Sunday by announcing that two of its pupils, Maryam Yusuf and Abdurrahman Yusuf, had won medals in the international tournament.
