Nollywood actor Francis Duru dies at 57
According to a family source, Duru passed away at the National Hospital Abuja (NHA) on Thursday at around ten o'clock.
His wife and two kids survive him.
Five weeks after the industry lost another icon, Olu Jacobs, the news of the thespian's passing was met with sadness by his fans and colleagues.
While lamenting Duru's passing, veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo called him one of Nigeria's most adaptable and successful performers.
“A consummate actor has left the stage,” Kanayo said on his Instagram page.
“One of the most flexible, prolific performers Nigeria ever produced. Rest in peace my brother.”
Duru, who is renowned for her imaginative role-playing, appeared in a number of films, such as One Chance and Rattle Snake as Ahanna.
Two years prior to his passing, he lost his 15-year-old son, Ifeanyi, whom he called a "champ" and a "lion" who battled fearlessly.
