The cause of Atiya's death has not yet been revealed, although it is said that he passed away on Thursday morning.

In an Instagram post, Seun Oloketuyi, the creator of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, revealed the director's passing.

He wrote, “Dimba Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later.”

On Instagram, actor Mofe Duncan expressed his grief over the director, calling his passing a devastating blow to the entertainment sector.

“God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds of the entertainment industry,” he wrote.

No official announcement regarding the circumstances surrounding Atiya's death had been made as of the time this article was filed.

His death was announced just hours after Tope Osoba, an actress, was reported dead.
