North-East to experience power outage
Due to ongoing construction at the Bauchi 330kV substation, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has declared a planned power outage in a number of northeastern states.
According to a letter issued by Engr. J.O. Joseph, TCN's Regional Operations Manager, Bauchi Region, the outage would occur from 10:00 a.m. on June 10 until 5:00 p.m. on June 14, 2025.
As part of the construction of the new Bauchi 330kV substation, the planned outage will allow contractors to install 330kV Turn-In and Turn-Out transmission towers.
The current Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV transmission line will also be crossed as part of the project; it will be temporarily shut down.
The warning states that the Jos-Gombe single circuit (SC) line will be impacted by the outage for the full five days. This means that throughout the work, there will be no electricity at all in Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo.
In the meanwhile, MEPP will supply power to the Baga Road substation, while the Dadin Kowa Hydropower Plant will partially power the Gombe and Biu substations.
On June 14, the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV line will be removed expressly to allow for the line's last crossing. The northern region has had a number of outages, this disruption being the most recent.
