NSCDC arrests suspects for cable vandalism in Lagos community
Suspected vandals who were allegedly responsible for the destruction of armored telecommunications cables in the Amuwo-Odofin region of Lagos State have been captured by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command.
Residents reported suspicious activity in the community to command agents, who then reportedly arrested the culprits as they were committing the crime.
In a statement released on Thursday, Oluwaseun Abolurin, the Lagos State Command's public relations officer, confirmed the development and stated that the operation was successful because of reliable information supplied by community members.
The discovery, according to Abolurin, was a component of the command's continuous efforts to stop vandalism and safeguard vital infrastructure throughout Lagos State.
He praised the Amuwo community's cooperation and prompt information sharing, which he claimed were crucial to the suspects' apprehension.
In the first and second quarters of 2026, the command organized community engagement programs with important stakeholders, which he claimed bolstered the increasing collaboration between residents and security authorities.
The command also stated that the incident was still being investigated.
