NSCDC arrests three suspects for Vandalism in Abuja

Three alleged vandals have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, near the National Stadium/National Hospital axis in Abuja.

While organizing the damaged goods to be transported to an unidentified location, the suspects were captured.

The Tactical Squad of the Command's Critical National Assets and Infrastructure department made the arrest while on normal patrol during the yelutide, according to Monica Ojobi, the Command's Public Relations Officer.  During the holiday season, the department was entrusted with protecting the FCT's infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

The accused were identified by Ojobi as Abdulsalam Aminu, Mustapha Sale, and Suleiman Sani.  According to Ojobi, as more research into the vandals' actions in the FCT was conducted, a number of exhibits were found from them.

In response to the arrest, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant, commended the command's staff for their diligence and will to stop the city's vandalism.

“We are aware that these criminals always take advantage of festive seasons to perpetrate their heinous acts, that’s the reason we mounted guard waiting for them to beat them to their game.

“It is disheartening that the government’s effort to provide essential infrastructure to make life meaningful is being jettisoned by some unscrupulous elements busy vandalizing these assets for their own selfish gains, and this must be stopped.

“It is our responsibility to protect critical infrastructure and amenities such as crash barriers, roads, bridges, manhole covers, telecommunication and power installations, among others, and we will not relent in our efforts to protect these National Assets from these criminals,” Odumosu said.
