NSCDC arrests two bandits with firearms, tramadol in Kwara

Two suspected bandits were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation in Saminaka Community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command.

Following extensive observation by command personnel, the suspects, Mohammed Abubakar, 26, and Abubakar Jubril, 28, were captured on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The suspects were one of three suspicious people seen in a volatile region, according to the NSCDC.

Two suspects were taken into custody, while one escaped and is still at large, according to the report. Cigarettes, pills (Tramadol), a cell phone, and a firearm (Serial No. 7886, Made in USA) were among the items found on the suspects.

The Kwara State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, reiterated the Command's dedication to combating criminal activity and protecting lives and property throughout the state while speaking at the suspects' parade on Friday in Ilõrin.

He stated that attempts were on to capture the last suspect.

He emphasized that the command will do everything within its power to capture criminals and protect locals, and he cautioned those who commit crimes to stop or face the full force of the law.

Additionally, Commandant Bodinga advised the public to maintain their vigilance and to keep giving reliable information that might help security agents keep the peace.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation or transferred to the appropriate security agency for further inquiry,” he added.
