NUC accredits 34 courses for new Ekiti federal University
The recently founded Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission for 34 academic programs spread over four colleges.
In a statement made public at Iyin Ekiti on Thursday, FUTES Registrar Mr. Oluwole Dada revealed that the accreditation had cleared the path for the university to formally begin academic operations for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The university's laboratories, lecture halls, offices, dormitories, library, clinic, restrooms, staff buses, and instructional materials, including Hitachi boards, were all audited by four NUC teams during a week-long facility verification exercise, according to the registrar.
He stated, “The exercise was aimed at ascertaining the institution’s preparedness and its capacity to deliver world-class training in science, engineering and technology, computing and information technology and environmental sciences”.
Proud with the successful verification, Vice Chancellor Prof. Gbenga Aribisala called it "a milestone that affirms the university's readiness to provide 21st-century education."
Aribisala assured that admission will be determined solely on merit and urged applicants to switch their preferred school to FUTES on the JAMB portal.
“We are here for academic excellence and that is the standard we want to set from the onset. Students who performed well in JAMB, WAEC, NECO or NABTEB will be admitted purely on merit, without fear or favour,” he said.
"We want to make it clear to members of the public that the university has no agent for admissions or payments of any kind," the VC said, warning parents and guardians against using admission agents. Everyone can get correct information on our website.
He counseled prospective students to seek advice from the Registrar's office or to rely solely on the validated information found on the university's official website, futes.edu.ng.
