Ogun man dies of electrocution while reconnecting power cable

A middle-aged man named simply as Edward has lost his life while attempting to reconnect an electricity connection to a pole at Kajola hamlet in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.  On October 3, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the incident took place.

According to information obtained, a homeowner hired Edward, who was not an official with any power distribution firm but was well-known in the neighborhood for helping individuals with little electrical tasks, to aid in reestablishing power to an apartment nearby.

But while he was reconnecting the wire, tragedy supposedly occurred when power was restored.  According to a local resident, other community members later discovered Edward's lifeless body there.

The resident said, “Someone who lives close to the apartment at Kosedo in the Kajola area, where he died, asked him to help reconnect their light. He came that morning and collected money to rent a ladder. They left him there, hoping he would have completed the reconnection before they returned.

“It was later in the evening that people became worried about his whereabouts. When they got to the point where he was working, his body was found lying motionless on the ground. It was believed that he was electrocuted when electricity was restored to the area around 1:30 p.m.”

His remains were eventually transferred to the morgue after it was determined that attempts to revive him on the scene were unsuccessful.
