Ogun police nab notorious kidnapper while impersonating soldier
Wasiu Oloyede, a suspected leader of a kidnapping ring, was taken into custody by Ogun State Police Command agents on Sunday in the Odo Pako neighborhood of Ota.
A serving soldier was allegedly abducted by Oloyede, who is thought to have been the mastermind behind a recent abduction event in Alagbado, Lagos. The guy lost his identity card, ATM cards, cell phone, and military uniform during the encounter.
However, the soldier was able to break out of captivity. Oloyede allegedly attempted to fool a local vigilante operator after the incident by posing as a military member while wearing the pilfered outfit.
During the altercation, he allegedly attempted to take the vigilante's dane pistol. His scheme backfired when the watchful security guards sounded an alarm, prompting the cops to quickly capture him.
Investigations to find and capture further abduction syndicate members are reportedly still underway, according to authorities.
