Ondo Military Aircraft Crash: Tinubu declares three-day national mourning

In addition to calling for an investigation into the Ondo military aircraft crash, President Bola Tinubu has announced a three-day national mourning period.

In order to show respect for the officers, he also ordered that flags be flown at half-mast across the nation.

Tinubu "extends his deepest condolences to the family of the 25 passengers and seven crew members involved, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and all officers, airmen, and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force," according to a statement released on Monday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

A military source confirmed that all 32 passengers on board perished in the crash.

According to the President and the Air Force, the passenger plane crashed at Igbokoda in Ondo State just after 9:00 am (0800 GMT) while on a "routine mission" from Benin City in southern Nigeria to the economic center of Lagos.

According to the presidency, the Air Force will notify the victims' families before disclosing their identities.
