Following his escape from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State, 39-year-old prison escapee Kabiru Oyedun was apprehended again by Lagos State Police Command agents.  One of the prisoners that escaped the correctional facility over a burst fence is Oyedun.  

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the arrest on Friday, saying the fugitive was located and captured on Tuesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Ayobo neighbourhood of Lagos.  

According to him, the cops from the Ayobo Division conducted the operation.  The arrest was the consequence of proactive and preventive security efforts meant to prevent criminal elements from invading the state, the police spokesperson noted.

“Kabiru Oyedun was trailed and arrested in Ayobo on May 21, 2025, at about 5:30 pm by operatives of the Command attached to Ayobo Division.

This is largely due to the proactive and preventive measures put in place by the Lagos State Police Command to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating the state,” he disclosed.
