Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died.

According to reports, Orbih, the Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land and Oduma of Uzairue, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq., on behalf of the Orbih family, signed a statement confirming his passing.

According to the statement, the deceased was a cherished brother, husband, father, and uncle, and his passing had left the family with "profound sadness and a heavy heart."

The statement read, “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announces the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.”

Orbih, 64, was born on October 27, 1961, to Chief and Mrs. M.C.K. Orbih of Ogbona in Etsako Central Local Government. Prior to attending Our Lady of Fatima College in Auchi, he started his studies at the Catholic Central School in Afashio. 

Before being admitted to the University of Benin in 1981, he completed his General Certificate of Education, Advanced Level, at the Advanced College, Igueben. Orbih earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Benin in 1984. 

He entered politics and ran for the All Peoples Party's (APP) deputy governorship in Edo State in 1999.

In 2006, Orbih obtained a Certification in International Petroleum Management from Eni in Rome, Italy, after pursuing additional professional training.
