Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, is a well-known TikTok streamer who was held by the Lagos State Police Command after a video went viral showing him driving and threatening to crash his car while livestreaming.  His actions caused a collision on Lagos' Lekki-Epe Expressway.  

According to a statement released on Tuesday and signed by Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrest came after a video that was taken on Sunday showed the 20-year-old content creator driving while clearly upset and ultimately crashing his car.  

The suspect's actions, according to the police, were a serious risk to other drivers and amounted to an accused attempt at suicide.

"The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained, for further investigation, Habeeb Hamzat, also known as ‘Peller’, subsequent to a viral video that surfaced online on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in which he was seen driving recklessly, leading to a dangerous road crash while the incident was being live-streamed,” the statement read in part.

" His action constitutes a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and endangered the lives of other innocent road users,” it added.

The police said that the case has been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. They also stated that the suspect would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law, and the results will be made public.
