Police arrest former Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha
On Monday nite, the police detained Senator Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Imo State, on charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.
According to CSP Aniete Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, Okorocha was taken into custody at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja.
The former governor was questioned for an hour before being released on bail, according to the Force PRO.
Okorocha was asked to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for additional questioning while the allegations are being investigated, Iniedu told Channels TV.
According to reports, Okorocha's failure to accept prior police invitations in relation to the ongoing investigation led to the arrest.
He was first invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but at the request of his attorneys, the appointment was moved to September 8, a date he allegedly neglected to show up for.
