Police arrest four alleged notorious kidnappers in Ondo
Four alleged gang members involved in kidnapping, armed robberies, and ritualistic activities in Ogbese in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State have been detained by the Ondo State Police Command.
In a statement given to reporters in Akure on Monday, Olayinka Ayanlade, the police command's spokesperson, revealed the suspects' arrest.
The suspects, under the leadership of Ifeoluwa Julius, have long been on the command's watch list due to their alleged involvement in violent crimes in the area, according to Ayanlade.
He disclosed that after receiving information that the suspects had returned from a place where they purportedly obtained charms to strengthen themselves for upcoming assaults, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit agents followed them to the outskirts of Ogbese.
He claims that Julius and three of his gang members were apprehended as a result of the well-planned operation.
According to Ayanlade, blood-stained red and white cloth, fetish items, and a spent cartridge were among the things found on the ringleader.
He said that when being questioned, Julius allegedly admitted to being a ritualist and to being involved in multiple kidnapping instances in the Ogbese area with his gang members.
He also acknowledged that he and his group had traveled to get additional charms to support their illicit activities.
However, Ayanlade emphasized that after the investigations were over, the accused would face charges in court.
