Police arrest man for impersonating soldier in Plateau
A guy has been detained by the Plateau State Police Command for reportedly posing as a soldier in the Jos North Local Government Area's Angwan Rukuba community.
The suspect was transported to the state police headquarters in Jos after being captured amid ongoing security operations in the region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, SP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and asked the media to attend the procession.
The development coincides with increased security in Jos in the wake of a recent incident in Angwan Rukuba that is said to have killed 28 people, sparking new worries about local safety.
The Plateau State administration had previously enforced a 48-hour curfew in several areas of the state capital due to the worsening security situation, but it has since been lifted.
Security services have persisted in assuring locals of their dedication to bringing about peace, pointing out that cooperative efforts are being carried out to uphold law and order throughout the impacted areas.
The official parade will reveal more information about the suspect's name and suspected actions, according to the police.
