Police arrest Omoyele Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights campaigner, has reportedly been taken into custody by Nigerian police.  At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Sowore was placed under arrest.

Human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong made this revelation in a post on X, where he charged that President Bola Tinubu's administration and the police were weakening Nigeria's legal system.

He wrote: “The arrest of Omoyele Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja moments ago is preposterous.

“The police and the Tinubu regime are making a mockery of our judicial system. He should be freed immediately. Stop the shenanigans.”

Sowore had previously shared on Facebook that he was at the Federal High Court with Nnamdi Kanu's lead attorney, Kanu Agabi.

He claims that Agabi revealed that his team would be dropping the case, leaving Kanu to face his trial without an attorney.
