Police arrest seven over murder of Lagos engineer
Seven individuals have been taken into custody by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Lagos, in relation to a violent assault.
The arrests were related to the killing of Badmus Monsur, an engineer who was slain in the attack at a property in the Agidingbi neighborhood that was owned by the Lagos State government. According to reports, the deceased worked for the Nigercat Nigeria Group of Companies.
Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, the chairman of the company, voiced worries about what he said were attempts by certain high-ranking law enforcement officials to sabotage the current investigation and have the suspects released.
Speaking to reporters in Ikeja, Osuolale praised the main investigator, CSP Oyewale, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for apprehending the suspects so quickly. He cautioned, though, that other arrests under comparable circumstances had been weakened.
“I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the IGP and CSP Oyewale in ensuring that seven people connected to the murder of my engineer have been apprehended,” Osuolale said.
“But we are deeply concerned, as there have been instances in the past where suspects were arrested and then released the same day, both at Alausa and FCID, while some of our staff were still being detained.”
