Police arrest seven suspects for armed robbery in Niger

Seven armed robbery suspects who were allegedly intimidating state citizens in their houses and on the road have been taken into custody by Niger State Police Command officers.  

Two suspects, Habibu Isyaku, 20, and Musa Yakubu, 18, of the Texaco neighborhood of Maitumbi, Minna, were detained during a police stop and search operation, according to a crime bulletin released by Command Wasiu Abiodun.

After a sting operation, the other five suspects were taken into custody: Abdullahi Sani, 27; Mohammed Inuwa, 21; Abbas Yahaya (also known as Papalo), 25; Abdulrahman Ismail, 29; and Mohammed Abubakar, 28.  

According to Abiodun, all of the suspects were taken into custody and charged with criminal conspiracy, thuggery, and possessing illegal substances and hazardous weapons.

He narrated: “On November 17, 2025 at about 9pm, Police surveillance team attached to Tudun-Wada Div, while on stop and search around Western Bye-Pass intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle –  Habibu Isyaku 20 years and Musa Yakubu 18 years, both of Texaco area of Maitumbi, Minna

“The suspects were subjected to on-the-spot search, and a locally made gun was recovered. During interrogation, they couldn’t give a satisfactory account of themselves and were suspected to be robbing members of the public along the Bye-Pass.
