One sentenced prisoner, Abba Hassan, escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Center in Potiskum, according to the Yobe State Police Command.  

The fugitive is a native of Borno State, according to the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.  

The public was cautioned by the police to exercise caution and assist the command in apprehending the escaped prisoner.  

"Members of the public, security agencies, transport operators, community leaders, and vigilante groups within Yobe State and neighboring states are hereby advised to be vigilant and report any sighting or information that may lead to his location and prompt rearrest," the command's PRO said in a statement on Saturday.

“Do not attempt to confront or apprehend him on your own”, it warned.

The Command recommended the public to call the following emergency numbers, 08038452982, or report to the closest police station or correctional service facility.
