A suspected illicit factory in the state's Badagry region that was purportedly used to make tainted alcoholic beverages has been shut down by the Lagos State Police Command.

A 48-year-old man named Anaebo Hilary was also taken into custody by the command at the alleged factory in Pin Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State.

SP Abimbola Adebesi, the command's Police Public Relations Officer, made this announcement in a statement on Thursday.

The statement claims that prior to finding the suspected factory, police officers responded to public information.

Adulterated alcoholic beverages, empty bottles, different wine labels, and manufacturing gear purportedly used to make and package the drinks were found by the operatives.

“The operation led to the arrest of Anaebo Emeka Hilary, ‘m’, 48 years, at Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State, where the suspected illegal factory was located,” the statement said.

According to the order, Hilary was placed under police custody while the factory was sealed.

It further stated that the recovered objects had been brought to the police station for additional examination.

CP Tijani Fatai, the Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police, praised the officers for acting on the intelligence and asked locals to keep giving the police reliable information.

The command stated that the public might report suspected illegal activity to the police by calling its emergency lines.
