Police kill four bandits during operation in Benue
On Friday, the Benue Police Command stated that members of the Operation Zenda Joint Task Force (JTF) had killed four armed bandits. In a statement released in Makurdi, DSP Edet Udeme, the Command's spokesperson, verified the development.
According to Udeme, the robbers were killed in a gunfight with the police at a roadblock in the state's Ogbadibo Local Area of Orakam.
According to her, the officers stopped a black golf car on Thursday while they were on duty, but the people inside attempted to prevent them from carrying out their duties.
“In a desperate attempt to evade arrest, two of the suspects removed AK-47 rifles and opened fire on the personnel.
“As a result of the engagement, four armed bandits were neutralised, while one armed suspect fled into a nearby bush,” she said.
According to Udeme, they also found the car, other charms, a magazine with fifteen rounds of live fire, and one AK-47 gun.
According to her, attempts are still being made to locate and apprehend the armed suspect who is escaping.
She stated that Mr. Ifeanyi Emenari, the Commissioner of Police, has assured the public of the Command's dedication to protecting people and property throughout the state and praised the officers' bravery and operational effectiveness.
