Police nab suspected armed robbers in Lagos, seize gun
During a crime prevention patrol in the state's Odogunyan region, the Lagos State Police Command apprehended two alleged armed robbers and found three live rounds and a locally manufactured cut-to-size Danne gun.
As part of continuous efforts to combat crime and other illicit activities around Lagos, command personnel worked with members of a local vigilante organization to apprehend the accused.
The suspects were apprehended while carrying a handbag during the patrol, the command revealed in a statement.
The police said that they made an attempt to escape as soon as they saw the security squad, but they were swiftly apprehended.
“They were swiftly apprehended, and a search conducted on the handbag in their possession led to the recovery of one locally made cut-size Danne gun and three (3) live cartridges,” the statement said.
Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29, were named as the suspects.
According to the police, the two suspects are being held and helping detectives; after the investigation is complete, they will face charges in court.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers and members of the local vigilante group for their diligence, quick thinking, and teamwork, which resulted in the successful arrest and recovery.
