Police nab three suspected kidnappers in Ondo

Three suspected kidnappers have been taken into custody by the Ondo State Police Command.  Following a covert surveillance operation that targeted known kidnapping routes, the suspects—identified as Abayomi Fayankinu of Okada Area, Edo State; Felix Orka of Ugbogi Area, Edo State; and Abdullahi Ibrahim—were captured.

The command's spokesperson, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, said in a statement on Wednesday that the Anti-Kidnapping Squad members made the arrests after obtaining reliable information.

He said, “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad embarked on a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of two suspected kidnappers, Abayomi Fayankinu, aged 51, of Okada Area, Edo State, and Felix Orka, aged 34, of Ugbogi Area, Edo State.”

According to Ayanlade, Fayankinu admitted during questioning that an Ogbomoso resident named Adebayo had been collaborating with him as an informant while pretending to provide security intelligence.

Additionally, he disclosed that Adebayo had taught him how to handle firearms, which prompted agents to expand their investigation and ultimately result in Adebayo's apprehension.

“Building on this momentum, the investigation further led the team to Edo State, where another notorious member of the syndicate, Ibukun Jimoh Samson, aged 55, popularly known as Iron Body, was apprehended at Okada Area.

“A search conducted at his residence yielded one English-made single-barrel gun, believed to have been used during their operations,” Ayanlade continued.

He clarified that the breakthrough was related to Abdullahi Ibrahim's earlier arrest in Ore, whose confession revealed a larger criminal network that operated along South-West key routes.
