Police rescue five kidnap victims in Rivers

Five victims who were kidnapped by suspected cultists in the state's Emuoha Local Government Area on Monday were successfully rescued, according to the Rivers State Police Command.

At Rumudogo 2 Community in Emuoha LGA, the victims, Prince London "M," Azubuike Kelechukwu "M," Elizabeth Aniete "F," Onyebuchi Precious "M," and London Sampson "M," were saved unharmed.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, claims that the command's Tactical Teams carried out the rescue operation at around one in the morning on December 4, 2025, in cooperation with other security agencies and with community assistance.

The victims have been taken to the hospital for medical examinations, she said, and there is a lot of work being done to find and apprehend the escaping cultists/abductors.

CP Olugbenga Adepoju, the Commissioner of Police, promised that the offenders will be apprehended and subjected to the full force of the law.

In order to guarantee the protection of the locals, he also urged the people and the community to keep working with the police.

This rescue effort is a response to a previous incident in which five Rivers State University students were kidnapped by suspected cultists in Emuoha LGA.
