Police shuts down PDP National Secretariat
The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, was sealed on Wednesday by Nigeria Police officers. The confrontation between two party factions on Tuesday is connected to the development.
Pandemonium broke out at the facility on Tuesday when the Saminu Turaki-led side clashed with individuals loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Bauchi counterpart, Bala Mohammed, were teargassed during the confrontation. According to The DAILY POST, a barrier made of barbed wire was installed to keep people out of the property.
With barely a few police officers on the ground, none of the leaders of the two opposing factions could be seen at the secretariat.
Supporters of Kabiru Turaki's side, however, disagreed with the police's decision to block off the area.
