Seyi Tinubu gifts philanthropist Sarah Martins N20m following Lagos arrest

The October contribution was made just a day after Martins made headlines when he was arrested by Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC/KAI) authorities for cooking on a public median in Lekki Phase 1.

Authorities in Lagos claim that her altruistic cooking practice was against state environmental laws that forbid food preparation on sidewalks and other unapproved public areas because of health and safety risks.

Martins later recounted her experience on social media, claiming to have suffered minor injuries during the incident. Her post provoked strong public reactions regarding the difficulties faced by grassroots humanitarian initiatives in metropolitan environments.

Less than twenty-four hours later, Martins declared that Seyi Tinubu had given her organization N20 million to improve its operations and guarantee complete adherence to state regulations.

Through an intermediary, the money will be utilized to build a fully furnished, eco-friendly cooking facility in Lagos that would feed the city's homeless and vulnerable children.

Tinubu, a co-founder of the Noella Foundation, also promised to help the project further by supplying high-quality kitchenware and looking into a joint venture to broaden the scope of Martins' feeding program.
