Shell workers begin protest over CBA
Due to concerns about a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), employees of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) protested Tuesday morning along Lagos' Broad Street.
The organization that represents senior employees in the oil and gas industry, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), organized the early-hour protest.
Unresolved issues pertaining to the execution of the collective bargaining agreement between the employees and the corporation were the cause of the protest, according to a PENGASSAN source.
Due to commuters and onlookers slowing down to watch the demonstration, the activity created traffic gridlock along the main Broad Street axis. Access to the Shell building was restricted due to protesters gathered surrounding the facility.
