Singer Chris Brown released on £5m bail
In an assault case, American R&B singer Chris Brown was released on bail on Wednesday, provided he provides a £5 million surety to a UK court.
The 36-year-old Grammy winner Brown is permitted to continue his planned overseas tour, which is set to begin in Amsterdam on June 8, in accordance with the terms of his release, the judge said.
The judge further stated that the £5 million will be forfeited if the artist does not return to the UK, where he will begin a run of concerts on June 15.
He was accused last week with “grievous bodily harm with intent” in relation to an assault in which the victim was allegedly struck multiple times with a bottle before being pursued and beaten and kicked.
While Brown was on tour in the UK, the claimed assault allegedly occurred on February 19, 2023, at a nightclub in London's Hanover Square.
After he allegedly arrived by private plane, police arrested him in the early hours of May 13 at a five-star hotel in Manchester, a city in the northwest.
