Suspected killer of Nigerian teenager to be arraigned by UK police
A 16-year-old kid who is accused of being involved in the murder of Nigerian youngster Eghosa Ogbebor will be arraigned before a magistrates' court on Saturday, according to the Metropolitan Police.
On Friday, April 10, the boy—who cannot be identified for legal reasons—was accused of killing Ogbebor.
This was revealed by the police in a statement posted on their website on Friday evening.
Three adolescents were detained in relation to the shooting death of 14-year-old Ogbebor, a British-Nigerian, in the Woolwich neighborhood of London on April 3.
The Metropolitan Police verified the death, stating that they were notified of the incident on April 2 at approximately 4 p.m.
The teenager was declared dead despite the efforts of the emergency personnel, according to the police.
The 16-year-old Romford resident was charged with murder on Friday, April 10, and is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday, April 11, according to a police update on the event.
According to the statement, the suspect was initially detained on April 4 but was later freed on bond before being taken into custody again on April 9.
The statement read, “A boy has been charged with murder over the shooting of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor in Woolwich.
“The 16-year-old, of Romford, was charged with murder on Friday, 10 April and will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 11 April.
“He was first arrested on Saturday, 4 April and released on bail. He was re-arrested on Thursday, 9 April.”
The statement also stated that a 16-year-old had been detained and three other individuals who had been detained in relation to the event had been freed on bail.
