Terrorists attack Borno military base, kill four soldiers
Boko Haram militants stormed a military base in Ngamudu along the Damaturu-Maiduguri in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday, killing four soldiers and injuring five more.
According to what our source learned, the incident happened at around 2:30 in the morning. Lt Col Uba Sani, the spokesperson for operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the attack in a statement and added the terrorists also recorded a high number of casualties.
"After a prompt response by ground forces and reinforcement elements from 29 Task Force Brigade, troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area," the statement said.
“The terrorists employed Rocket Propelled Grenades, armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices, targeting troops and their own platforms.”
According to him, forces maintained their position and used superior weaponry in response to the intense attack, causing the terrorists to suffer heavy casualties.
“This necessitated a temporary closure of the MSR, as engineers swiftly responded to clear 3 IED-laden spots.”
“Following successful clearance, the MSR has now been reopened to both military and civilian movement,” he added.
According to Sani, troops were promptly resupplied with essential logistics in reaction to the attack, such as MRAP tires and ammunition, in order to maintain operations and regain complete mobility.
