Terrorists attack Borno school, kill one, set classrooms on fire

A block of Government Day Secondary School in Kautikari Village, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, which houses five classrooms and a staff office, was set on fire by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. 

According to our correspondent, the event happened on Saturday at approximately 6:45 p.m. Malah Kyari, the Education Secretary of Chibok Local Government Area, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the junior secondary school is the impacted area.

“I can confirm that the insurgents attacked the Kautikari community yesterday, killed one person, and set ablaze one block containing five classrooms and an office at Kautikari JSS,” he said.

ASP Nahum Daso, the Borno State Police Command's public relations officer, also confirmed the event, stating that the assault was repulsed by security personnel.

He said, “They attacked Kautikari village, where they burnt two classrooms at Government Day Secondary School and killed one person, a man.

“The suspected insurgents faced strong resistance from joint security forces, averting further losses. As of now, the area is calm and intensive patrols are ongoing.”

Samaila Manza, the Zonal Inspector for Local Government and Emirate Affairs in charge of Bama, Chibok, Gwoza, Askira/Uba, and Damboa, verified the occurrence as well, but she stated that specifics were still unclear.
