A military formation in the Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State's Mairari community was attacked by suspected Boko Haram terrorists; some soldiers are thought to have been killed.

Around midnight on Tuesday, terrorists attacked the military outpost.

According to a local source, both sides feared casualties during the more than two-hour-long attack.

Umar Sheriff, the Chairman of Guzamala Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and stated that no civilians were hurt.

He claimed that the military post was the specific target of the terrorists.

He said, “The incident occurred last night around 12 am. Though I don’t have statistics regarding the casualties yet, because it’s not everything we are told. It’s a security matter. But I know that no civilian was killed.”

He called the attack a significant one, pointing out that the area had not seen one like it in a long time.
